The David R. Bergmann Group was founded on the principal of being, foremost, an advocate for our clients best interests in all matters. We strive to provide the most comprehensive offering of financial services that we can for our clients through our in-house capabilities and outside vendor or contractor relationships. Our priority in our client engagements is 'high-touch' personal service offered through individually tailored 'client planning and services engagements'.
Our engagement of services philosophy is based on the principles of partnership. For our part, we agree that 'we shall, in light of all conditions understood and ascertained surrounding those that we serve, render that service which, in the same circumstances, we would apply to ourselves." Our clients agree to keep us, as soon as is practically possible, informed of changes in their personal circumstances. and to meet 'personally' at least once a year unless otherwise agreed to.
Our engagement of services approach, is best optimized by clients who are looking for an advisor who offers integrated financial services which, we have found, facilitates 'better' decision making and recordkeeping 'efficiency'. Our typical client is a individual, or couple, business owner or employee, who are looking for professional oversight with their personal financial matters so that they might have more time and resources available to pursue the 'other-than-financial' activities of life that bring them greatest joy and personal fulfillment.

INVESTMENT POLICY STATEMENT
Our basic strategy to our investment models and portfolio management is based on the philosophy that our desire is to engineer for our clients a "core structure " to their portfolio(s) such that it reduces portfolio volatility while retaining the highest probability of successful attainment of the accumulation goal. We believe in a commitment to our core portfolio philosophy that requires annual reviews with portfolio rebalancing and adjustments as appropriate. We believe that if we concentrate on, nurture, and cultivate the core portfolio that we will eventually have the benefit of critical mass propelling us towards our stated accumulation goals. We believe that when personal circumstances and the "core structure" permit, that there are opportunities to tactically or strategically invest beyond the "core" portfolio to perhaps take advantage of shorter term rotations in the markets specifically or in the economy generally. We believe that no one can time the market over the long run and that there is a huge difference between investing and speculating. We believe that different investment philosophies will have varying strengths and weaknesses in the constantly changing investment environment that we invest our clients money in hence our focus on the long term and our "core" strategy. We believe that when we have a strong core portfolio and our clients wish to elect to invest beyond that core portfolio with additional or windfall capital that we do so with an extremely disciplined approach. We require, going in, a stated risk reward parameter and the use of a defined stop loss strategy with this only discretionary funds activity.
We believe that, absent substantial changes in a clients personal or family circumstances, a portfolio should never require wholesale changes, all things being equal as they say, if objectives and risk tolerance were successfully understood, honestly communicated and "planned" for in the first place. We believe that our clients should be involved with us in the management of their financial affairs. We do not take discretionary authority on any account and we require, at least, an annual one on one financial review with our clients. We believe that we offer a unique opportunity for a more individualized financial planning relationship than one might get with a traditional planning firm and we would welcome the opportunity to meet you to see if we might be a good fit for each other.

Our practice and tradition of having close personal contacts with our clients and our individualized "engagement" agreements have blessed our firm of 25 years with a tradition of having long-lasting client relationships. Our overriding principle, which guides all of our actions, is our responsibility to the client first and foremost and our true objectivity in the advice we render and or the workproduct that we produce. Our interactions with our clients reflect our honesty and concern for their personal interests, not ours. A primay item of consideration in our client relationships is the sensitivity of our client's personal information, thoughts and feelings and our responsibility to respect and appreciate the preservation of the confidentiality of all such client information, spoken or in print.
Our mission and purpose is to be a "partner", "counselor" and "advocate" for the financial and personal interests of our clients.
Our work at being a partner for the financial and personal interests of our clients revolves around the passion and concern that we have in our relationships with our clients for their personal financial welfare. We help our clients prioritize their goals, we work hand in hand with our clients with their evolving personal circumstances, we escort them through the ever-changing financial and economic environment that we live in, and we are with them when they see the fulfillment of their goals and objectives. We offer clients refuge from their financial anxieties as they know very well that we take those anxieties and their attainment of their goals and objectives as seriously as they do.

BACKGROUND OF DAVID BERGMANN
My firm has been in business since 1984.
I earned - my Certified Financial Planner Certificate in 1986, my Enrolled to Practice Before the Internel Revenue (EA) status in 1987 and my Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) in 1988. I have served as President and Chairman of the Financial Planning Association of Los Angeles (formerly the ICFP Society of Los Angeles) and I served for 5 years on the National Board of the Financial Planning Association (FPA, formerly the ICFP).
